First of all I have to say a big THANK YOU to Bill F for his post here yesterday prompting me to think about preparing the house for the upcoming winter. We have not been here during winter before and I have a couple queries if anyone can help - We will need to get some firewood, can anyone give us a lead on where to find? can we just collect from the side of the road? Also is there a law on when we can turn our heating on - or is this an urban myth? Cant beleive with all this good weather that I am thinking of the cold months ahead - but it is better to be prepared! Well done Bill F.
I will look into the laws on collecting firewood. From what i can see you need permission from the landowner but i will doubel check to make sure.
You can purchase firewood from some farms/estates around Umbria or from some of the bigger supermarkets and shopping centers. Its more a winter thing so you may have to wait for them to restock.
There is a great homewares/hardware store that operates throughout Italy that has firewood for sale. Brico IO is a great store that has a number of hardware products as well as firewood and fire pellets. There are a number of stores in the Umbria area, they can be found in the Hardware/ DYI section of the information pages of this site. We use the Corciano store. Good Luck, cheers Kerri
